Advance your driving knowledge and skills

Driving around your local area, testing areas and school runs – doesn’t enhance your driving skills.

Be taken into areas you’re not familiar with, busier, more hazardous areas. Experience more complex roads and intersections, park in between cars in busy areas. Set the GPS and drive yourself towards unfamiliar destinations, whilst adhering to all the road rules, spotting hazards and reacting positively to them. Work your way towards bridges and motorways.

Who do we teach?

We provide lessons to Learners, P platers, full licence holders and Overseas licence holders who wish to convert their licence. Obtaining a licence doesn’t automatically make you confident.

Whether you weren’t taught properly and just passed or you have just found it overwhelming – Make the smart decision to get lessons and build your skills.

I’d had my learner's licence for almost four years now but never had the confidence to sit for the driving test. I tried three other driving instructors before Lien, but none of them helped me the way she did. I used to be a very VERY anxious driver, and she really helped me build my confidence behind the wheel. She is calm, patient, and explains things visually in a clear way that made everything much more easier to understand. Anna still checks on me, this is why I feel they are now not just instructor during the lesson but people truly care about other driving

I still couldn’t believe I passed the test on first go with 98%. If it was not for my instructor Anna and Mark, I wouldn’t have even try, I’d just give up. I started the lesson with Anna in late July. Anna was fully booked but she was very accommodating. She tried her best despite she is very busy to fit me in to make sure I have regular lesson every week so I can practice.

The first lesson, Anna took me to this carpark next to park in Hillsdale, she knew the traffic and area very well so student would have the chance to learn it properly. She would observe the student experience and driving skill and then decided where to go on each lesson. Initially I wanted to have female instructor because I thought they are more patient than male but Mark is equally patient and friendly too. Anna has different style of teaching which is so good she explained to student thoroughly, ensured the student understands the mistakes and not repeat it. Anna also was very encouraging. Each time I told her that I find driving stressful till now, she kept reassuring me and reminded me that I can do it. She believes in her students.

At first I wanted to have only few lessons, then I can practice on my own but I can see having the professional driving instructor is so important. Anna observed me, particularly headchecks. She was right about the headchecks. It is so important you can have instant fail for missing more than 2 headchecks. The reverse parking is a real struggle, each time she would open the door and pointed how much distance, if the car is straight or not. Because of her, I can understand how to do reverse parking and do it properly with Anna's technique and applied it now to my driving.

Anna also told me how to improve on each lesson so I can achieve the goal in passing the test. She won’t push the student for the test unless she knows her student is ready. I did more than 10 lessons and I can tell each lesson is so much worth it. She also gave me driving test booklet, suggested that I read the road user handbook.

I really like her teaching, using simple, clear and easy to understand. If I don’t understand, we would pull over and she draws to get clearer understanding. Each lesson, I felt she was encouraging me to beyond my comfort zone in very gentle way. She knew driving is too stressful to me but yet she kept me calm even once almost collided with bicycle because I didn’t look properly, she really pointed and next asked me to drive on same area so I can learn from my mistake. She also make sure I did everything right by the driving test scoring whether it’s position error or fail item. And if she was not available to give lesson, Mark jumped in to help too. So don’t need to worry because if anyone is serious about driving, Tommy’s Driving School is the best place to go to.

It has been a week since my driving test, both instructors still care about my driving even I had passed the test. Anna still checks on me, this is why I feel they are now not just instructor during the lesson but people truly care about other driving. Thank you so much to Anna and Mark, and Anna deserve more holiday and popcorn.

OMG. Can’t believe. Mark is the best driving instructor in Sydney. Booked my test in Bondi Junction and took first lesson with him and made terrible mistakes. I was about to cancel my test and postpone it as I thought I am not ready but Mark convinced me that you can drive, you need only two lessons to get confident. I took 2 lessons of 1.5 hr each in Bondi area with Mark. He said you are 90% ready and make sure you will pass the test. And guess what, today I passed my test and got 107 marks out of 108. Nearly perfect.

If you are a nervous driver like me, I really recommend her as an instructor. Having experience with a previous instructor that was incredibly demeaning, Anna made me regain my confidence in driving with her patience, reassurance, and empathy. She was incredible at accommodating my nerves and was very good breaking down driving technicalities into a step-by-step process; which was very helpful to a slow learner like me.

Anna was also incredible at introducing new learning opportunities in an according pace - she often encouraged me to drive on different roads (even when I was a bit reluctant due to my anxiety😂) and was quick to reassure me when I doubted my skills. We first went with Lien for my son Julius back in 2024, Julius found Lien's teaching skill so easy, she made all interactions easy to understand, every lesson he had he’ll come back more confident behind the wheel, which made at home lessons much easier and less stressful.

Julius passed first go ! Scored 106/108 (98%)

Having a successful result with Julius, we went with Lien again for my daughter. Iyla started with Lien towards the end of 2024, Lien made Iyla feel very comfortable, she explained every lesson thoroughly, delivered constructive feedback which gave Iyla more confidence, Iyla was going through her HSC and Lien was very accommodating with rescheduling around exams.

Once Iyla was booked in for her test, Lien helped with a checklist for us to go through for her to be ready for test day.

Iyla passed first go with a score of 104/108 (96%)

She’s generous with her time and doesn’t rush through anything. Lien explains things clearly and thoroughly, making sure you understand not just what to do, but why.

All the pointers she gave me were spot on and really helped build my confidence. She also took the time to help me get familiar with the test route and process, which made a huge difference on the day.

I have always been an anxious driver who was already very nervous when getting onto the road, however, Lien's calming presence quickly eased my nerves and made me into a confident and safe driver today. She teaches with precision and kindly nudges you in the right direction, being consistently thorough in corrections and ensuring a driver's safety. Lien also is particularly skilled in her explanations, utilising toy cars and her whiteboard to demonstrate how to do particular manoeuvres which was very useful for myself as a visual learner.

Additionally, Lien was very helpful when preparing for the actual driving test since she took me through the Edmondson Park areas. She gave me useful tips on where to do head checks, changing lanes, locations for kerbside stops, three-point-turns and reverse parallel parks and potential hazards that may appear the day of the test. Her insight truly helped me feel more confident and less anxious the day of my test which can be revealed in my results!!

Lien's gentle reminders and knowledge of road safety truly assisted in my growth as a driver and I am grateful for everything she has done for my journey to getting my red P's :)

Lien was incredibly patient, even when I made mistakes, and always gave honest, constructive feedback that helped me grow. I really appreciated her clear, visual way of teaching—she’d often use a whiteboard, toy cars, and simple road diagrams to explain things like parking, merging, and avoiding road rule mistakes. It made everything so much easier to understand and remember.

She was also very realistic when it came to real-world driving. If another driver did something unsafe on the road, she would use it as a teaching moment—showing me how to stay alert and make safe decisions.

Another thing I valued was how comfortable and easy it was to talk to her during lessons. We had great conversations, and that relaxed environment helped me stay focused and calm behind the wheel. I must say, Tom is one of the best driving instructors I’ve ever met. I took nearly 10 hours of lessons with him, and during that time, he helped me improve in many areas, making me a more confident and safer driver.

Unlike others, Tom takes the time to explain not just what you need to do, but also why you need to do it. This approach makes it easier to understand and remember everything in the long term.

Tommy's 101 Driving School and Anna in particular, were fantastic. My daughter had two different instructors to begin with (from two different companies) however the feedback I was getting from my daughter was that they were constantly on their phones, messaging and taking phone calls whilst “teaching” her to drive.

As a parent, it’s very stressful when your kids start driving. You want them to learn to be good and safe drivers, you need them to learn all the road rules, etc. and not only the basics. You need them to pass but you also need to be confident that they are ready to drive by themselves. We then contacted Tommy's 101 and Anna was available to start teaching her. I must say, it was the best decision I made. In the short amount of time that Anna took over, my daughter really became a safe and confident driver. She really learnt to drive, understood all the road rules and we were both confident that she was ready to go for her P’s.

That big day was today and it was no surprise that she passed with flying colours. I cannot thank Anna enough and I have already booked her in for November when daughter number 2 gets her L’s. Thank you Anna and Tommy's 101.

Tommy's 101 is an excellent driving school for anyone's first time on the road or to even polish up your driving skills even more! I had Lien as my instructor and her patience towards me since day one was something that made me extremely comfortable with her. (To be honest, I would have never thought I would be able to reverse park perfectly in a busy shopping centre car park on my first go if it wasn't for Lien's confidence in me!!)

She made driving such a relaxed experience for me, having casual conversations as well as giving detailed explanations and easy procedures to different manoeuvres and observational skills. Any mistakes I made, she would make sure that I understand why I am making them and teach me how to do it correctly until I became perfect at it without rushing me. There were so many things I would have never known about driving that actually serve a crucial role in keeping you safe on the road. With only 3x2hr lessons with her, I was able to pass my P's test on my first go with a score of 98%!!

By utilising whiteboards and toy cars, Tom and Lien were able to prompt me to visualise specific scenarios and how to effectively manage them. They critique you on both the positives and negatives that you do and re-shape driving behaviours that could lead to accidents.

Tom goes above and beyond. During the first few lessons with him, he extensively taught me the art of decision making: lane changing, roundabouts and intersections. This helped me gain courage that allowed me to further advance to the more crucial stage of driving; motorways, bridges, constant busy roads and peak hour traffic. Even though Tom comes to South West Sydney once a week, he has significantly taught me how to become a better driver by building my knowledge and patience of the roads.

Lien is calm and patient. She has effectively taught me how to do the manoeuvres properly and how to park between cars. She engraves test preparation into your brain which has effectively made me the safe driver I am today.

Overall, my experience with Tommy's 101 was a memorable one. Every dollar spent was worth it. I passed with 106/107 (99%) on my first try. I highly recommend Tommy's 101 Driving School to anyone attempting to get their P's efficiently or to become a better driver.

I highly recommend Anna! I have a full licence, but I don’t have much driving experience, even in my home country, so I needed practice. To be honest, I’m not a great driver, and it took me a while to get comfortable behind the wheel. I’ve taken many lessons at different driving schools in Mascot (because I was in a bit of a rush), and I found Anna to be the best. While most instructors were great, Anna really understands my weaknesses. If I told her I wanted to improve a specific skill (eg. parking), she would focus on it until I felt confident. She truly helped me with what I needed most (for me, it was long-distance driving), and she put in a lot of effort to support me. Driving lessons can be expensive, but with her, it was worth every penny! She helped me so much.

Lien helped me ace my driving test on the first go! Although I only did two lessons at the end to practice for my test, Lien really helped me with my reverse parallel park. She also made sure I knew all the important elements for the test, so I went in feeling confident. My test instructor even told me after my test that I looked really confident when driving.

Tommy’s 101 Driving School was fantastic at increasing my confidence and awareness while driving. My instructors Lien and Anna, went through the best techniques for a variety of manoeuvres and how to perform them safely, allowing me to pass on my first test. They were actively ready for any questions I had regarding the test or rules I was unsure about, pointing out any errors as soon as I made them which were fixed with a visual explanation and scenario practise. Thank you Lien for taking the stress of teaching a young man to drive and pass his provisional licence (red p's) with a score of 98% on his first try! His very first driving lesson (with mum) wasn't a positive experience with other road users being impatient and driving dangerously around him, we decided our son would benefit from an instructor. Thanks to Lien I was able to pass my P's test straight away first go with a score of 100 out of 104. I’ve never been with a teacher as good as she was, she was always patient and calm while I was driving. She’d also took the time to know me so she could give me the best advice and confidence in my situations.

Without Lien I definitely wouldn’t have been able to pass. She’s the only one to have made it happen out of any other driver I’ve had before. The best part of her teachings was when she’d use a white board with markers and small toy cars to visually show me how to park or the right ways of turning.

I’M VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE FOUND TOMMYS 101 DRIVING SCHOOL!!!

I went through a lot of others instructors previously, but I couldn't learn properly how to control the car at all. I found Tommy’s 101 by searching on google for someone that could help me in getting my driver licence, plus affordable prices and flexible hours. And I was very fortunate in finding them because they are absolutely wonderful!!

Tom was my instructor and he is the best!!

I cannot believe that I am now a P licenced driver👏😭 I had 0 experience of driving in my life but Anna patiently helped me to get it started. She is kind but straightforward and I was fortunate to have her to explain every single thing that I needed to understand.

I also learnt from Tommy later on. He is fun and he always made sure that I was feeling comfortable as I progressed further onto heavier traffic.

I was recommended to this driving school by one of my friends. Before Lien, I had driven by myself a few times but didn’t feel confident enough to get on the road. With my first lesson with Tommy’s Driving School, my ability to drive had completely transformed. I was confident on the road, understood how to position the car better, and I could even park. Going with this driving school was the best decision by far!!

They have a great car to drive, Lien is so lovely and patient, and they are very flexible to suit anyone’s schedule. 100/10 recommend them if you’re looking to past your test!

General Terms & Conditions

Fit to Drive - You agree that on the commencement of each lesson you will be medically and physically, fit to drive. This includes, but not limited to - having Zero (0.00%) amounts of illegal drugs and alcohol in your system, as these may impede with the safe operation of the vehicle. For example, illness/ injury/ medical condition, drowsiness from medications, glasses/contacts when required by law etc.
Current/ Valid Driver’s licence - For each lesson, you are required to have with you a current and valid Australian Drivers Licence (Class C) or your overseas driver’s licence. This may be a physical licence and/ or a digital licence. Suspended, Disqualified or Expired means the licence is NOT Valid/ Current.
For Overseas licences, to ensure validity, you are required to contact Service NSW and confirm your licence is valid and/ or needs a letter of translation. Failure to carry a valid/ current licence whilst driving may attract a fine payable by you.
Fines & Demerit points - During the lesson, if you incur fines/ demerit points, you - as the driver is liable to pay. We will make all possible efforts to ensure you drive to comply with all road rules. However, as the driver, the onus is also on you to be a responsible driver. This applies whether you are with an instructor or any supervising driver.
Accidents during a lesson - Our vehicles are covered with comprehensive, compulsory third party and public liability insurance. In the event of an incident and you are at fault, you are covered. However, in the event of any insurance claim investigations, you are found to be negligent due to gross misconduct, being unfit, including being drug and alcohol affected, this information will be provided to the relevant authorities and a claim may be made against you.
Private car usage - If you prefer to use your own private car for lessons, you acknowledge that it is registered and covered with comprehensive insurance and the vehicle is roadworthy. In the event of an accident, you are liable to pay any excesses/ costs associated with the claim.
Right to terminate a lesson - The driving instructor reserves the right to terminate your lessons. Reasons may include but not limited to; gross negligence and misconduct, medically unfit, repeatedly not following instructions, creating a non-harmonious learning environment etc.
Test day car hire without prior lessons - If you are deemed not capable/ proficient to drive a motor vehicle by the driving instructor on the day of the test, we reserve the right to cancel the hire of the car. Students are advised to take lessons prior to test day to ensure capability/ proficiency of operating a motor vehicle.
The driving test day - Students with logbooks are to ensure it is filled out correctly and meet the requirements prior to test day. Overseas licence holders must possess all relevant documentation on test day.
